Stakeholders

These are nothing more than ordinary personal pensions but with certain restrictions imposed in terms of the maximum charges that can be applied and the minimum level of contributions. Under a Stakeholder pension, there is only one charge which is capped at 1½% of the fund value each year for the first ten years and then 1% per annum thereafter. The benefit of the Stakeholder pensions is that they are very cheap. They will therefore be highly suitable for investors just starting their pensions and those with smaller pension pots. The drawback of Stakeholder pensions is their limited investment options.
